Dr. Funmilayo Doherty: Funmilayo is a Chief Lecturer at Yaba College of Technology (YCT), Lagos, Nigeria. She has M.Sc and Ph.D in Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Management. She has more than 50 publications, and co-authored 6 books. She is a Ford Foundation Grantee and has won several other grants. Dr. Doherty is an AuthorAID steward and INASP associate. She is also the National Cordinator, AuthorAID National Research Hub, Nigeria and Coordinator, AuthorAID online Journal club on Environmental Toxicology, Biology and Chemistry. Dr Doherty is currently the Head of Department, Biological Sciences, Yaba College of Technology.

Keynote speakers:

Habeeb Ibrahim Abdul Razack MPharm, MSc CRRA, ELS, ISMPP CMPP: Habeeb is a pharmacist by education and medical communications expert by profession. He has over 15 years of experience in various writing domains, including drug/device regulatory, scholarly, and drug safety writing. His areas of research interests chiefly include medical communications and peer review, pharmacovigilance, and public health. He received grants from the World Health Organization, BELS, Geneva Health Forum, and International Development Research Center. He served as an invited speaker for scholarly events organized by the ISMPP, APAME, ACSE, and CASE. He acts as a peer reviewer for 10+ journals. He is an editorial board member of the Drugs & Therapy Perspectives and Trends in Scholarly Publishing. Habeeb is an ISMPP certified medical publication professional, and a BELS certified editor in the life sciences.

Maha Bali: Maha is Professor of Practice at the Center for Learning and Teaching at the American University in Cairo. She has a PhD in Education from the University of Sheffield, UK. She is co-founder of virtuallyconnecting.org (a grassroots movement that challenges academic gatekeeping at conferences) and co-facilitator of Equity Unbound (an equity-focused, open, connected intercultural learning curriculum, which has also branched into academic community activities Continuity with Care, Socially Just Academia, a collaboration with OneHE: Community-building Resources and MYFest, an innovative 3-month professional learning journey. She writes and speaks frequently about social justice, critical pedagogy, and open and online education. She blogs regularly at http://blog.mahabali.me and tweets @bali_maha

Dr. Olumide Odeyemi: Olumide is a research support specialist and researcher with extensive experience supporting over 250 research grant applications budgeted at over $300 million and submitted to over 150 funding bodies. His specialties include researcher development, research impact, and engagement, working with industry, research grants development, costing and pricing research projects, and identifying funding opportunities. He is a recipient of multi-internationally competitive scholarships, grants, and awards. In the past three years, he has trained more than 2000 students and academics on academic skills, research skills, researcher development, and how to secure scholarships and grants. As a multidisciplinary researcher, he has published over fifty (50) scientific publications and listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in microbiology and food science.

Sam T. Mathew, MPharm, PhD, ISMPP CMPP, IMP: Sam is a researcher and medical communications enthusiast with over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug development with major pharmaceutical companies, CROs, academics, publishing houses and freelance settings. Over the years, he has evolved in roles and responsibilities as a scientist, author, peer reviewer, scientific writer, journal editor, and business leader while working directly with Viziphar biosciences, Novartis, Accenture, Biocon, GSK, writing agencies from APAC and medical journals, and as a service provider for BMS, Pfizer and UCB. He currently works as a Senior Director of Medical Affairs with Cactus Life Sciences.

He has demonstrated technical as well as business expertise in delivering tangible outcomes in the broad spectrum of scientific writing domain, including medical publications, medico marketing and medical information, KOL management, clinical regulatory, HEOR, drug safety, public disclosure, real-world evidence and document publishing across therapeutic areas within the pharmaceutical, biologics, vaccine, global regulatory, and medical affairs ecosystems. He has successfully established, optimized and operationally managed multiple in-house and offshore businesses in the above areas and led many continuous process improvement projects using lean, analytics, and automation to improve process quality, productivity, and compliance. He is a skilled leader with proven success in managing diverse roles like subject matter expert, people development, service delivery, change management, operations management, strategic alliance management.
