Biografía:
I am currently working as a consultant and Associate Professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute Of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM). I graduated with honors in Biochemistry and Pharmacology from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi in 2001. I completed my residency training at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and obtained a diploma in Medical Rehabilitation in 2007. In 2009, I cleared the exit fellowship exam of the College of Physician and Surgeons of Pakistan in the discipline of Rehabilitation Medicine. Later, I completed my Master of Science in Pain medicine from Riphah University in 2016. I am an active researcher with > 200 national and international publications, including four book chapters and 40 original research articles. I have been invited to speak at national and international conferences and have also chaired and co-chaired scientific sessions. In recognition of my outstanding original research work presented at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad Annual symposium 2007, I was awarded the Ibn-e – Sina Silver medal. I also won the ISPRM Young Investigators award 2009 (Istanbul, Turkey), Travel grants of 4000 USD from the Emerging Nations Science Foundation (Italy), the Young Physician’s Scholarship for the 7th World Stroke Congress (Seoul, Korea), Research Productivity Award 2010, 2011, and 2012 (Pakistan Council for Science), AuthorAID mentor of the year 2014 award, and Gold medal for the best oral presentation at the 2nd International CCME conference, UHS, Lahore. I am passionate about teaching research writing and have conducted more than 100 workshops on different aspects of medical writing, scientific misconduct, and presentation skills in 7 countries since 2013. I also serve as a peer reviewer for more than 50 national and international medical journals. Additionally, I am the National Representative for the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, International Rehabilitation Forum (USA), and Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN). I serve as an executive board member of the International Rehabilitation Forum, Asia-Oceanian Society of PMR and Pakistan Society of Neuro-Rehabilitation. I was elected as the first and only active individual member of the ISPRM Assembly of Delegates from Pakistan in Aug 2010 and at present the only Pakistani member of the ISPRM Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Committee. My areas of interest and research include spinal cord injuries, stroke rehabilitation, amputee management, disaster rehabilitation, Medical Education, and Bioethics.
