Exploring the future identity of AuthorAID community: Your input matters!
At INASP, we are proud of the growth and impact AuthorAID has achieved over the years. Since its inception, AuthorAID has been an important resource for early career researchers.
What started as a project providing support for academic writing has now evolved into a global community, where researchers find support for their broader career development, from research skills to collaboration opportunities, and mentorship. Our online courses now also address community engagement and research communication, our live events deal with mental wellbeing in academia, networking, and data analysis, and our learning videos give insights into the use of AI for research or advice on attending international conferences. In summary: AuthorAID provides the 21st century early career researcher with the critical knowledge, advice and skills that they need to thrive.
While we remain deeply committed to supporting researchers, this growth means that the term “Author” in our name no longer fully reflects the diversity of our work and community, while the “Aid” in our name feels outdated and doesn’t capture the spirit of community and peer learning that drives us today.
To ensure we continue to grow and secure new opportunities for support, AuthorAID will be undergoing a rebranding process. The important things that AuthorAID currently offers won’t be lost, but it will look and be called differently.
As we reimagine AuthorAID, we want to hear from you! What does AuthorAID mean to you? Does it still resonate with your experience as a member of this community?
Your insights are vital in helping us shape the future of this community. Please share your thoughts in the comments under this blog post or in this Google Form.
