Biography:
Dr. Helen Nigussie, an Assistant Professor in Genetics and Bioinformatics at , Addis Ababa University, boasts 20 years of experience in teaching and research at both Ambo and AAU. She is a member of Ethiopian Young Academy of Sciences fellow. She received African Biosciences Challenge Fund fellowship in 2012 and 2018. Dr. Helen actively participates in teaching and advising for various undergraduates and postgraduates across institutions. Dr. Helen chairs the Department of Microbial Cellular and Molecular Biology. She also serves as the President of the Society of Ethiopian Women in Science and Technology and holds leadership roles at the Ethiopian Society of Animal production and the African BioGenome Project. She is a mother of three, is not only dedicated to her family but also aspires to be a role model, especially for young female scientists, aiming to address the gender gap in the field of hard sciences in Ethiopia. https://eas-et.org/etyas/
