Biography:
Richard Atinpoore Atuna is an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University for Development Studies, Nyankpala Campus. He holds an MPhil in Biotechnology and a BSc Agriculture Technology (Biotechnology Option) from the University for Development Studies (UDS). He also holds a Teacher’s Certificate A from St. John Bosco’s College of Education, Navrongo. He is currently the Quality Assurance Officer for Food Science & Technology Department. Richard also coordinated the USAID Alaafei Wuljo Project that was implemented by GC-RING in Collaboration with UDS. The project was to promote the cultivation, utilisation and consumption of vitamin A rich orange-fleshed sweetpotato among rural communities in Northern Ghana for improved health and wealth. Richard has a wealth of experience in postharvest technology, nutrition, food safety and product development. His research focuses on recipe refinement of both commercial- and household-levels food products to improve nutrition and also for wealth creation. Richard is a member of African Potato Association and African Society of Food Science and Technologist. He has a good number of publications to his credit.
