Bio of facilitators:
Lamis Yahia Mohamed Elkheir is a senior pharmaceutical chemistry lecturer at the University of Khartoum. She also works as a research assistant at the Mycetoma Research Centre. Her passion for drug discovery, particularly for Neglected Tropical Diseases, drives her academic and professional endeavours. Furthermore, Lamis is deeply committed to promoting open science and effective science communication to ensure global equity in scientific knowledge. She is working as a co-director and training lead in the African Reproducibility Network (AREN), advocating for open science in Africa. Additionally, her work with open science initiatives like PREreview and ASAPbio underscores her dedication to transparency and equity in research.
Emmanuel Boakye is a passionate open science champion in Africa who has worked with organisations such as the Association of African Universities (AAU) and the Center for Open Science (COS). He is a 2022 eLife community ambassador and currently spearheads the African Reproducibility Network, a community-led initiative that seeks to bridge the gaps in open science advocacy and adoption through training and communities of practice established at universities and research institutes. He holds a BSc. Biochemistry degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.
