AuthorAID is pleased to support the Scientific Writing Training Course that is being held by the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research in Lusaka, Zambia, on 25 to 29 August 2008.
The purpose of the course is to introduce beginning researchers, editors, writers/reporters, and educators to the knowledge and tools of scientific writing and to enable their more experienced counterparts to stay competitive in this area of scientific endeavor.
The course is both an introduction for newly appointed scientific and technical staff, science reporters and editors, and lecturers and a refresher for experienced colleagues. There will be presentations on fundamentals of scientific writing, writing ethics, writing processes, audience analysis and cross-cultural issues, techniques for writing types of documents, writing styles and manuals, collaborative science tools, scientific writers’ tools, and public presentation of research findings. There also will be practical labs and a project.
Inquiries about the course should go to the Course Director, Mr Forward Lumbwe (lumbwe@nisir.org.zm), of the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research.
Further details can be found in the Course Outline (PDF, 136K, or Rich Text, 64K).
A report on this workshop will be available here after the event.
