International Academic Webcasting Grant for Developing Countries Using Open EyA | 25 February 2010, Eligible developing countries
Starting in 2010, the Science Dissemination Unit (SDU) is offering an academic webcasting grant to have an "off-the-shelf" solution for online learning. The aim is to help non-profit institutions from countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA to implement the automated production of on-line scientific content (via webinars) and e-learning and distance education (via web lectures). The SDU grant provides a complete set of the openEyA recording system (worth about 650 Euros), including all necessary hardware and software. It may be awarded to up to three different organizations. The recording system consists of a Netbook, (which comes installed with openEyA and the Linux Open Source operating system), an omni-directional USB microphone, a digital camera, a webcam, and power cables. TDR Clinical Research & Development Fellowships | 05 February 2010,
The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) invites researchers from developing countries to apply for a 12-month career development fellowship on Clinical Research & Development. Successful candidates will be seconded to selected pharmaceutical companies. The goal is to develop human resources to promote high quality clinical R&D in disease endemic countries (DEC). It is expected that qualified professionals will be able to enhance DEC product development capacity on diagnostics, drugs and vaccines against infectious diseases that disproportionately affect poor and marginalized populations. The programme will train individuals in situ with relevant partners in order to develop specialized skills not readily taught in academic centres, including inter alia R&D project management, regulatory requirements and good practices. Upon completing their fellowships, the individuals are expected to return to their home institutes and assume a leading role and become valuable resources in the global effort on R&D for neglected infectious diseases.

The courses are designed to train researchers and statisticians to competently handle health/medical data and contribute successfully within a research team.
