A Resource Roundup and More
Greetings again. I hope that all is going well for you.
Things have been going busily for me. Earlier this month I led a workshop funded by a Kenyan colleague’s grant. After returning, I finished my grading for the spring semester. Now I’m trying to finish various items before summer teaching begins.
As you might have seen, our past few blog posts have been largely guest posts. This high proportion is consistent with AuthorAID’s goal of having more content from developing-country researchers. We ask recipients of AuthorAID travel grants and workshop grants to submit guest posts about their experience. We also welcome other guest posts.
In recent weeks, several resources have been added to the AuthorAID Resource Library. Let me mention them, in case you’re not aware of them:
- a presentation on writing abstracts
- a blog post, from the publisher Wiley, titled “Fake Metrics and How to Spot Them”
- another blog post, also from Wiley, titled “How to Find an Academic Mentor”
- the website SciRev, where researchers can share with colleagues their experiences with peer review at various journals
- an infographic titled “Tips for Designing Better Research Posters”
- a Chinese translation of 10 AuthorAID Sentence of the Week posts
- a Spanish translation (“Conectando investigaciones científicas en las redes sociales: Consejos para investigadores”) of the AuthorAID resource “Making research connections with social media: Advice for researchers”
My thanks to the people who contributed or suggested resources.
Do you have resources to suggest? Or would you like to write a guest post? (I provide editorial help.) If so, please contact me at bgastel@inasp.info.
Until the next post—
