Congratulations to Our Newest Travel-Grant Recipients!

AuthorAID is pleased to announce its latest group of travel-grant recipients. The recipients are as follows:

  • Om Basukala, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, to give an oral presentation titled “In vitro antileishmanial activity of Bombax ceiba Linn. flowers” at the Trieste Course Leishmania 2014 (Trieste, Italy, 21–24 October 2014)
  • Prosper Karame, Institute of Applied Sciences (INES-Ruhengeri) and Ministry of Natural Resources, Rwanda, to give an oral presentation titled “Bioinformatics-led solutions for sustainable natural resources management in Rwanda (BS4NR)” at the Biodiversity Informatics Standard (TDWG) 2014 Annual Conference “Applications and Data Standards for Sustaining Biodiversity" (Jönköping, Sweden, 27–31 October 2014)
  • Dr. Ismat Ara Begum, Bangladesh Agricultural University, to give a poster presentation on the economics of rice stock levels in farming in Bangladesh, at the 4th International Rice Congress (IRC2014) (Bangkok, Thailand, 27 October–1 November 2014)
  • Dr. Daudi Joachim Msangameno, Institute of Marine Sciences, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to give an oral presentation titled “Abundance patterns of macrofauna associated with major marine macroalgal communities on the intertidal rocky shores of Zanzibar Island” at the Symposium of Contemporary Conservation Practices 2014 (Howick, South Africa, 3–7 November 2014)

As usual, AuthorAID received more high-quality applications than it could fund, and choosing recipients was difficult. We commend all who took the initiative to apply, and we encourage members of the AuthorAID community to continue to seek such funding.

Also, a reminder: AuthorAID also offers grants to hold workshops. The application deadline for the next set of AuthorAID workshop grants is August 31.
