Biography:
Close to 20 years of experience in translational research, at national and international level in both, commercial and public environments. My work has centred on the management and delivery of drug development programmes, small molecules and biological molecules/ ATMPs, in global pharma (Novartis and AstraZeneca), SME Biotech (uniQure), as well as academic settings (University of Leeds, UK). This has also entailed biomarker and companion diagnostic studies. Through my own independent consultancy company I am applying my knowledge and expert skills to provide strategic advice and technical support to, predominantly, start-up/ SMEs regarding their drug development programmes. My work has also included being an applicant and a reviewer for scientific research funding applications, in the UK and EU. Since 2008, I have been and expert evaluator for European Commission Funding [Marie Curie Fellowships (grants up to €100K); FP-7 Health Development and Ageing – ‘Clinical Trials’ call (grants up to €6M) & Horizon 2020 Personalising health and care (grants up to €6M) incl. “Development of Diagnostics” & “Understanding disease: systems medicine’ calls]. Between 2010 and 2017, I have served as the National Representative for UK and Ireland of the European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine (EPMA) & Director Responsible for contacts with Government Institutions/ Insurance I have a PhD in Cancer Pharmacology (University of Bradford UK) and a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (University of Bradford) as well as Master of Public Health (University of Manchester) and a mini MBA (Kauffman Fellows Academy).
