Biography:
Pete has more than 20 years of social development work with various Non-government Organizations (NGOs) focused on providing assistance to marginalized sectors of the society. He also had a short experience working with the government. He worked as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia and in his free time volunteered at the Computer Society of Filipinos in Riyadh (COMSOFIL) teaching basic computer skills. In 2011, through a scholarship, he obtained his MA in Inter-Asia NGO Studies at Sungkonghoe University in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He served as editor for the Filipino Employment Permit System – EPS Workers Association’s (FEWA) newsletter called the Sulyapinoy. Pete enjoys photography, thus serving as the founding president of the Filipino Photographers in South Korea (FILIPOS), it is an amateur photo club of Filipinos in Korea composed largely of migrant workers. He is also into blog and an active member of the Pinoy Expat/OFW Blog Awards (PEBA). Pete is Registered Psychometrician (RPm) and presently taking up Master in Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Among his research interests include community psychology, migration and development, HIV-AIDS and wellness and integrative psychotherapies.
